In a word: Bespoke. No two students are alike, all require their own individualized lesson plans, strategies, and parent-tutor communications. I tend to schedule an introductory meeting where the work itself is less of a priority than understanding the student's needs, building trust, and building excitement. Only with an understanding of the student and their needs can study habits and outcomes become more of a guarantee than a simple opportunity.
As a dedicated editor, Miles is dedicated to creating a positive and generative space: the purpose of editing isn't only to correct mistakes but to find areas of transformative growth, to highlight insight and joy, and to spark excitement in the writing itself. Miles endeavors to strengthen application portfolios through collaboration, ensuring that every piece of work is as compelling and authentic as the person behind it.
I recall one student I worked with for the entirety of her college applications: going from brainstorming sessions to a final, grammar-focused copyedit. Even though her GPA wasn’t exceptional, she ended up being accepted into multiple top 20 colleges, certainly in part due to the strong, focused, and intentional essays we had spent months working on together. Good writing has the potential to change perspectives, to interdict on a decision, but good editing can bring that potential to a near guarantee.
