My philosophy when it comes to teaching is to establish a base of brutal honesty. A lot of times students will struggle with a problem because their math skills are not simply up to par with the grade level. I found that the best way to teach students is to first establish how much they truly know, once that is done the tutoring session can be more curated to suit that individual students specific needs and or difficulty.

Hello, my name is Dassen Stemi Stephen and I'm an engineering student with a passion for physics and math. As a Haitian immigrant and NYC college student, I understand the value of education and enjoy helping students be their best selves.

I once worked with a student at my school who was taking a pre calculus class during the summer. Before I had met them the student had failed their first two exams and were on track to failing the course. However after I tutored them I was able to better explain the mathematical concepts. This was especially true of trigonometry, I was able to create a special memorization method for her based on her personality.
